BioClean is a registered 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution for water treatment and selected hygiene applications, as specified in the product information.
This ready-to-use solution is ideal for travel, camping, outdoor activities, van life, motorcycle tours, and other situations where a compact water purification system can be useful.
BioClean is a good choice when you want a compact, additional water treatment system while on the go – for example, when water quality is difficult to assess, while traveling, camping, in a camper, on motorcycle trips, or when using water from a stream, spring, lake, canister, or refill station.
However, BioClean is not a substitute for mechanical filtration when visible particles are present such as sand, soil, plant debris, or suspended solids. These components should be mechanically filtered out or otherwise removed before use, if possible.
BioClean is also not a substitute for chemical analysis in cases of unknown contamination from industrial pollutants, heavy metals, pesticides, or other harmful substances. Water sources that are obviously unsuitable should not be used.
At a dosage of 3 drops per liter, a 100-ml bottle of BioClean is enough for about 670 liters of water.
At a retail price of CHF 25.00, that amounts to approximately 3.7 rappen per liter of treated water.
Calculation based on approximately 20 drops per ml. Actual coverage may vary slightly depending on drop size and application.
BioClean is added directly to the water, where it works during the contact time. This makes it a useful complement to mechanical water filters, outdoor water bottles, and other water treatment systems.
Especially useful for:
- Camping
- Hiking
- Motorcycle Tours
- Van Life
- Travel
- Emergency preparedness
- Water from a stream, spring, lake, or refill stations
- Fresh water in canisters, bottles, or small containers
For hikes, trekking trips, motorcycle tours, or day trips, you can also transfer BioClean from the 100-ml bottle into a small, empty 10-ml amber glass bottle be transferred. The small pouring funnels makes it easier to pour the contents into another container cleanly.
A fully filled 10-ml dosing bottle is sufficient for approximately 65 liters of water at a rate of 3 drops per liter.
Practical use on the go:
- Have a clean water bottle or BeFree bottle ready
- If necessary, mechanically filter out coarse particles beforehand
- Fill the bottle with water from a stream, lake, spring, well, or refill station
- Add about 3 drops of BioClean per liter of water
- Close the bottle and give it a quick shake
- Let it sit for about 30 minutes
- Use as intended
BioClean is not a mechanical filter. Visible particles, sand, soil, plant debris, or suspended solids should be properly filtered or otherwise treated before use.
BioClean 100 ml is versatile. Depending on the situation, different uses take center stage—from outdoor activities and travel to camping, van life, and motorcycle tours.
How to Purify Water on the Go Without Altering Its Taste
Overview for outdoor activities, travel, camping, van life, and motorcycle tours.
Treating Fresh Water in a Camper
For canisters, fresh water tanks, van life, and larger quantities of water.
Water Safety While Traveling and Abroad
For drinking water, ice cubes, fruits, vegetables, and surfaces while on the go.
Treating Water from a Stream, Spring, or Lake
For hiking, outdoor activities, natural water, geocaching, and when you're on the go.
Purifying Water on Motorcycle Trips
Compact water filtration system with a small footprint, ideal for tank bags, top cases, and side cases.
Even water that looks clear can be contaminated with microorganisms. Especially when you're on the go, it's often hard to tell what the water quality is really like.
For example, it is often unclear whether:
- what is located above a stream
- whether animals had access to the watering hole
- how long the water has been standing
- whether pipelines, wells, or refilling stations can be reliably assessed
- whether there is any microbial contamination
When traveling, ice cubes, salad, raw vegetables, washed fruit, or surfaces that come into contact with food can also play a role. It is therefore a good idea to practice good water and travel hygiene.
BioClean is not a medical product and is not intended to treat or prevent diseases. However, water treatment can be useful, especially when on the go, traveling, or when water quality is difficult to assess.
For use on the go, BioClean is also available as a convenient outdoor water filter set that includes a BeFree bottle. Simply add BioClean directly to the water. Then screw on the lid, which features a built-in BeFree filter and an activated carbon filter.
The complete set includes a BeFree bottle, filter cap, activated carbon filter, BioClean, an empty 10-ml dosing bottle, and a transfer funnel. Ideal for hiking, traveling, camping, van life, and motorcycle tours.
The perfect replacement set, including a BeFree replacement filter and a 3-pack of activated carbon filters, for existing BioClean Outdoor systems.
Campers, Vans, and RVs:
For canisters, larger containers, or fresh water tanks, BioClean 100 ml can be used directly. Depending on the dosage and water quality, a 100-ml bottle is sufficient for approximately 500 to 1,000 liters of water.

Travel and Abroad:
When traveling, drinking water isn't the only concern. Ice cubes, salad, raw vegetables, washed fruit, cups, cutting boards, knives, and surfaces can also be a factor—especially in places where water quality cannot be reliably assessed.

Motorcycle Tours:
When it comes to motorcycle trips, size matters. The small 10-ml dispenser bottle fits easily into a tank bag, top case, or side case. Combined with the flexible BeFree bottle, it creates a compact system for staying hydrated on the go.

Water from a stream, spring, or lake often looks clear and fresh when you're out and about. Nevertheless, natural water should not be judged solely by its appearance, smell, or taste.
In the Outdoor System, BioClean can be added directly to the water in the BeFree bottle. Then screw on the lid with the BeFree filter and activated carbon filter, and let it sit for the recommended time.

Many traditional water treatment products are based on chlorine compounds. Depending on the dosage and water quality, these products can cause a characteristic chlorine odor or taste.
BioClean is based on chlorine dioxide and is used very sparingly. When used properly, it generally does not produce the typical chlorine taste that many travelers associate with traditional chlorine products.
This is especially convenient when you're on the go, because water isn't just for drinking—it can also be used for coffee, tea, cooking, brushing your teeth, or making cold drinks.
