Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO for short) is an organic sulphur compound that has been used for decades in medicine, animal care and technology. It is a colourless liquid with a characteristic odour that is characterized by a particularly high solubility.
DMSO has many uses, including as:
- solvent in laboratories and technology
- auxiliary substance in research
- care and cleaning agent for animals and plants
Basic substances:
- dimethyl sulphide (DMS): a by-product of the pulp and paper industry (produced during the processing of wood).
- oxygen: used for oxidation.
