Areas of application

Borax as a fertilizer
Boron is an important trace element for plant nutrition and is added to some artificial fertilizers. If it is missing, damage to the plant tissue occurs. Heart and dry rot, yellowish leaves, brownish-yellow spots in the foliage and stunting are the result. In addition, flower formation is reduced and, accordingly, the fruit harvest.

Strictly speaking, it is the lack of calcium that affects the plants. But boron plays a decisive role in regulating the calcium balance in plants. Such a deficiency results in deformation of the fruit.

Negative changes are also visible in vegetables. For example, in potatoes and turnips, which become glassy and rotten, or cauliflower, which quickly turns brown.

The minimum content of the trace element should be 0.8 - 1.0 mg per kg of soil. If the soil lacks this trace element, it can be fertilized with borax. But be careful not to over-fertilize, so be sure to follow the dosage below.

Dosage for fertilizing with borax
Vegetables: 20 - 100g borax per 100m2 soil area, it is better to distribute a small dosage annually in spring
Fruit trees: 5 - 10g dissolved in 10l water, water the root area evenly.
Plums, plums, peaches and apricots in particular convert boron in their fruit, making it available to humans.
